Principal's Bio

I am honored and blessed to work with great families, students, and staff each day.  I began my career in education as a First Grade teacher in 1998 after graduating from UNC-Greensboro.  In First Grade, I loved how all of the learning could be integrated into all areas.  I then moved to Fifth Grade and enjoyed specializing in math and science.  It was during this time that I began to work with NCDPI (NC Department of Public Instruction) in math.  I knew I wanted to impact more students than just my classroom so I decided, after encouragement from my school principal, to pursue a career in school administration.

With the support of my family, administrators, and colleagues, I applied for the Principal Fellows Program.  When I was accepted into the Principals Fellows Program I enrolled in the Master’s program at UNC-Chapel Hill.  After graduating with my Master’s in School Administration, I began as an Assistant Principal.  I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as Assistant Principal at NERMS and SERMS and am aware of the expectations middle schools have of our rising 6th grade students.

In 2011, I was named to my first principalship.  In the summer of 2017, I was named as the new principal of New Market Elementary School.  I look forward to meeting all of the wonderful families that make up this Bobcat Family.  Together, we will continue to move the students of New Market onward and upward as they reach their own milestones and we celebrate their success!

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband and I have been blessed with two wonderful children.  We like to do outdoor activities like hunting, camping, and riding our four-wheelers as well as indoor activities that keep our brains engaged like board games and reading.  We are also very involved at our church and enjoy working with kids there too!

I look forward to many successful years here at New Market.  If I have not yet had the opportunity to meet you please stop by and introduce yourself.  I hope that each parent/guardian can spend at least one day each school year helping in your child’s class.  If you can volunteer with us please be sure to complete a Volunteer Application packet from the front office as soon as possible.
